KG InterDev

Projects

Throughout its history, KG InterDev has been engaged by a wide variety of firms to solve challenges of effective Internet and web communication, web-based workflow and business processes, software quality assurance and general technology company management. Below is a sample of the various types of projects we have been called upon to complete.

Bowman Systems Logo

Technology Management

KG InterDev managing director Christian Gurney was retained by Bowman Systems of Shreveport, LA to act as its interim Chief Operating Officer. The COO was responsible for daily operations of this 40 person provider of web-based software systems (ServicePoint™ and CommunityPoint™) to over 180 social services organizations in 37 states, including state, county, city, non-profit and the American Red Cross. Gurney established long-term product technology goals and implemented product specification processes and development management procedures to deliver higher quality software.

Gurney also evaluated and contracted for Customer Relationship Management software, eventually choosing Salesforce.com's hosted CRM service. An experienced public speaker and troubleshooter, Gurney assisted the sales team with customer site visits and presentations. Finally, Gurney introduced a professional marketing firm for development of strategic and tactical marketing programs.

Web-based Auction Listing System

Mecum Auctions of Marengo, IL is the world's leading live auctioneer of collector and classic automobiles. Mecum is particularly well-known for their popular auctions and closely followed Chevrolet Corvette auctions.

KG InterDev was asked to develop a complete web-based system to promote Mecum's auctions and the vehicles that are consigned to be sold to that auction. KGI's team designed, built and maintained the Mecum web site that has seen exponential traffic growth and interest since going live in the fall of 2001.

Central to KGI's solution was a back end workflow system that enables office staff to place vehicle pictures onto the web site. The system handles resizing and the creation of web graphics of an appropriate size. With any given auction potentially including 200-400 cars, the demand for a simple and efficient system for placing pictures was a key customer requirement.

Mobile Fun-n-Games Logo

Software Quality Assurance

KG InterDev was engaged by DVNO, (now a part of Navio, Inc.) to be the quality assurance partner for DVNO's Mobile Fun-n-Games web site. This site represented the fulfillment element of a mobile phone games, graphics and ring tone product marketed and sold through RadioShack.

KGI assembled a team of experienced software quality assurance professionals and worked closely with DVNO and their UK-based development partner to put the entire system through its paces to meet an import milestone - the rollout of the Mobile Fun-n-Games product through RadioShack stores during the holiday gift buying season.

Classmates.com Logo

E-mail Delivery Auditing

Classmates.com is well-know for linking old schoolmates together. To ensure that E-mail messages being sent to their members were actually being reliably delivered, Classmates.com retained KG InterDev to conduct a delivery audit. Under the leadership of one of KGI's directors, a seasoned E-mail software industry veteran, KGI created a sampling methodology and reporting system to deliver clear and meaningful results to Classmates.com management.

Vermeer Manufacturing Agricultural Division Logo

Public and Private Web Sites

Throughout its history, KGI has created web-based solutions for a wide-range and sizes of businesses. Through its partner Lessing-Flynn Advertising of Des Moines, IA, KGI built a set of public and member-only web sites for the agricultural division of Vermeer Manufacturing.

The public site provided detailed information about Vermeer's hay processing products and a dealer locator. The private system enabled Vermeer management to securely communicate with its extensive dealer community and provide dealers with marketing, service and warranty resources.

US Fiberglass Windows Logo

Public and Private Web Sites

In early 2005, KG InterDev completed the first of a set of new web sites for US Fiberglass Windows, an Iowa corporation that distributes and installs fiberglass replacement windows and doors.

Replacement windows are one of the largest home improvement expenditures that consumers consider after a kitchen remodel. The site provides comprehensive information on the variety of windows and doors available as well as in-depth data on how to compare fiberglass products to more traditional wooden, vinyl and aluminum windows. See www.usfiberglasswindows.com for more information

Des Moines Habitat for Humanity Logo

Community Service

The founders of KG InterDev strongly believe in making their technical and business expertise available to not-for-profit organizations. As a result, KGI has provided low or no-cost services to a variety of Des Moines area organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Latinas Unidas por un Nuevo Amanecer (LUNA) and Temple B'nai Jeshurun.

Featherlite Trailers Logo

Web Site Usability

Featherlite, a leading producer of aluminum specialty trailers and luxury motorcoaches, asked KG InterDev to conduct an extensive web usability study of its constellation of product and brand web sites. KGI evaluated coding practices, page load speeds, and user flows. KGI recommendations were then implemented by Featherlite's internal team of web developers, resulting in an improved customer experience and an increased number of visitors.
